The Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting training for those wanting to volunteer as a guardian ad litem.

Join us for two Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for Volunteer Training Wakulla: October/November 2018.

Guardians ad litem are citizens who volunteer to represent children before the court, social service agencies and the community. Under the supervision of program staff, volunteers devote approximately eight to ten hours per month on average. Volunteers also create relationships that can make a huge impact on children's lives.

To become a guardian ad litem, you must be at least twenty-one years old, pass a criminal background and complete a thirty-hour pre-service training program, which includes these classroom sessions plus independent study and field work.

Young adults nineteen or twenty years old may become certified and are allowed to work under the guidance of and in partnership with a guardian ad litem twenty-one or above.

The classroom training sessions are conducted over two days. Prospective volunteers need to submit a completed application before attending training.

The training is free. Learn more from the links above, download the print flyer and then register with the event contact below.
