The Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting a training for those wanting to volunteer as a guardian ad litem.
Join us for six evenings in September from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at our offices on Thomasville Road for Volunteer Training: September 2020 A.
Guardians ad litem are citizens who volunteer to represent children before the court, social service agencies and the community. Under the supervision of program staff, volunteers devote approximately eight to ten hours per month on average. Volunteers also create relationships that can make a huge impact on children's lives.
To become a guardian ad litem, you must be at least twenty-one years old, pass a criminal background and complete a thirty-hour pre-service training program, which includes these classroom sessions plus independent study and field work.
Young adults nineteen or twenty years old September become certified and are allowed to work under the guidance of and in partnership with a guardian ad litem twenty-one or above.
The classroom training sessions are conducted over six days. Prospective volunteers need to submit a completed application before attending training.
