The Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting a training of interest to anyone wanting to volunteer as a guardian ad litem.

Join us for three days in April from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at our offices on Thomasville Road for Volunteer Training: April 2015.

Guardians ad litem are citizens who volunteer to represent children before the court, social service agencies and the community. Under the supervision of program staff, volunteers devote approximately eight to ten hours per month on average. Volunteers also create relationships that can make a huge impact on children's lives.

To become a guardian ad litem, you must be at least twenty-one years old, pass a criminal background and complete a thirty-hour pre-service training program, which includes these classroom sessions, field work and independent study.

Young adults nineteen or twenty years old may become certified and are allowed to work under the guidance of and in partnership with a guardian ad litem twenty-one or above.

The pre-service training program is conducted over six days. New volunteers need to submit a completed application before attending training.

The training is free. Learn more from the links above, download the printable event flyer and then register today with the event contact below.

If you cannot make it in April, refer to the volunteer training schedule for a complete listing of 2015 pre-service volunteer training events.
