
The Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting a continuing education event of interest to volunteer guardians ad litem.
Join us on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at our offices on Thomasville Road for Youth Mental Health First Aid.
Sponsored by Florida AWARE, this course will cover the following topics.
Prevalence of various mental health disorders impacting youth and the need for reduced stigma in communities
Warning signs of mental health problems that may impact youth, primarily those aged twelve to eighteen
Risk and protective factors that can impact a youth's mental health and resiliency
Apply a five-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation; select and implement appropriate interventions; and help the youth in crisis connect with appropriate, evidence-based treatment and supports
Community resources available to support you and their families
Participants may receive eight (8) hours of continuing education credit. Afterward, report your hours using Optima.
