Child Advocates II, Inc. (CAII) is hosting a fun and delicious fundraiser in support of the Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program.

Join us on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Florida Department of Transportation auditorium for CAII Cupcakes and Cookies for Kids.

CAII Cupcakes and Cookies for Kids is a friendly annual competition for amateur and professional bakers and an opportunity for the public to raise money for our program by sampling the various goods.

  • Bakers enter as a contestant and prepare treats

  • Sponsors pledge a sponsorship and receive benefits

  • Guests buy stamps and exchange them for cupcakes and cookies

Special guest judges will be on hand to select winners from each category and award grand prizes for one cupcake and one cookie at each contestant level.

Bakers may enter their cupcakes and cookies into the contest at one of five contestant levels.

  • Professional
    typically earns money as a baker or chef

  • Amateur
    bakes as a hobby or pastime with no money earned for baking

  • Youth: High School
    students in high school grades 9-12

  • Youth: Middle School
    students in middle school grades 6-8

  • Youth: Elementary School
    students in elementary school grades K-5

Bakers may enter their cupcakes and cookies into one of fifteen contest categories.

Cupcakes by Professional and Amateur Bakers

  • Twenty-One and Up
    These cupcakes must include beer, liquor or wine as an ingredient. Cupcakes may employ alcohol to add flavor or simply be inspired by a particular beer or cocktail. Bakers and guests must be at least twenty-one to enter or purchase these cupcakes.

  • Filled
    These cupcakes must include some kind of filling or edible surprise in the center.

  • Nuts!
    These cupcakes must include nuts as an ingredient in the cake or frosting.

  • Fruitilicious
    These cupcakes must include at least one fruit as an ingredient in the cake or frosting.

  • What The World Needs Now Is Chocolate
    These cupcakes must include dark, milk or white chocolate as an ingredient in the cake or frosting.

  • Holiday
    These cupcakes must use ingredients, frosting and/or decorations to create a holiday-themed cupcake. Examples include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Easter, the Fourth of July — the possibilities are endless.

Cupcakes by Youth Bakers

  • Filled
    These cupcakes must include some kind of filling or edible surprise in the center.

  • Nuts!
    These cupcakes must include nuts as an ingredient in the cake or frosting.

  • Fruitilicious
    These cupcakes must include at least one fruit as an ingredient in the cake or frosting.

    These cookies must use ingredients, frosting and/or decorations to create a holiday-themed cookie. Examples include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Easter, the Fourth of July — the possibilities are endless.

Entry to the event is free. Tasting cards enabling purchasers to sample the baked goods made by contestants are available for $20. Each tasting card includes ten stamps that you can exchange for cupcakes and cookies. Friends and family are welcome to share a tasting card.

You can purchase tasting cards at the door or get them now. Those who buy tasting cards online are entitled to enter the event and start sampling thirty minutes early.

Tasting cards purchased online will not be mailed; they may be picked up at the will call table on the day of the event. Online tasting card sales will end on Friday, March 10, 2017.

If you run out of stamps while enjoying the event, do not panic. Extra tasting cards of stamps will be available for purchase at the will call table. All items at the event will be priced as follows.

Upon receipt of payment, a CAII volunteer will send a confirmation email. Updates leading up to the event will also be sent via email, while the baker's information packet and complimentary tasting card will be mailed approximately two weeks prior to the event.

In addition to becoming a contestant or joining us as a guest, you or your company can also donate toward one of four sponsorship levels for the event. Each level includes a number of sponsorship benefits, each of which are detailed below.

Contestants can register online at https://gal2.org/cupcake or by submitting a paper form (PDF or Word). Registration ends on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:59 PM ET.

By registering for this event, you agree to abide by the rules set forth herein.

Bakers may enter their cupcakes and cookies into the contest at one of five contestant levels, detailed in the Contestant Levels section above.

Recipes may be entered into one of fifteen categories, detailed in the Cupcake and Cookie Categories section above. Each entry must fit the category in which it is entered. For example, cupcakes entered in the Gluten-Free category must not contain ingredients with gluten.

Contestants may submit multiple entries in different categories. However, a recipe can be entered into only one category.

Each entry requires a non-refundable donation to Child Advocates II, Inc. (CAII), a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. The fee schedule is $50 for each Professional contestant level entry; $30 for each Amateur contestant level entry; and $15 for each Youth contestant level entry.

Cupcake Entry Quantities
Professional contestants must bring at least forty-eight mini-cupcakes and twenty-four regular size cupcakes for each entry.

Amateur and Youth contestants must bring at least twenty-four mini-cupcakes and twelve regular size cupcakes for each entry. For entries in the Filled category, contestants must bring at least thirty-six regular size cupcakes.

All contestants may bring additional cupcakes.

Cookie Entry Quantities
Professional contestants must bring at least forty-eight cookies for each entry.

Amateur and Youth contestants must bring at least thirty-six cookies for each entry.

All contestants may bring additional cookies.

Cupcake and Cookie Specifications
All cupcakes and cookies must be made from scratch. No use of box mixes, ready-made frosting or commercially available cookie dough is permitted.

Display
Professional contestants are encouraged to creatively display their entry and promotional materials. Amateur and Youth contestants do not need display items and will have their entry set up by a volunteer on the day of the event.

Judging
Cupcakes and cookies must be delivered on the day of the event for judging at the assigned time in order to compete. Cupcakes and cookies in each category will be judged on creativity, flavor, texture and appearance.

Awards
The judges will select one cupcake for the title of "Best In Show Cupcake" for each contestant level: Professional, Amateur, High School Youth, Middle School Youth and Elementary School Youth. First Place ribbons will be presented to the winners in each category at each level.

Contestant Deadlines
Registration for cupcake and cookie entries will be closed on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:59 PM ET. CAII must have your registration form and entry fee by that time.
