Parent Support Network Webinar Day

The Family Network on Disabilities and their Parent Support Network (PSN) Project are hosting a day of continuing education webinars of interest to volunteer guardians ad litem, staff, youth and parents.

Join them on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM for Parent Support Network Webinar Day.

Seven webinars on various topics will be presented throughout the day. The schedule, event descriptions and individual registration links are presented below.

  • Effective Parent-Teacher Collaboration 9:00 AM-10:00 AM
    Parent-teacher conferences provide the perfect opportunity to build and strengthen the relationships between parents and teachers. Communication is an essential component to your child's academic success. This training provides a great framework for effective parent-teacher conferences and meetings. We will discuss several strategies for building lasting, collaborative relationships between parents, teachers and faculty.

  • Cyber Safety 10:00 AM-11:00 AM
    In this webinar, presented by PSN's youth advocate, youth and parents will learn ways to keep personal information safe while utilizing the internet.

  • La Ley IDEA 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
    Aprende lo que necesitas saber sobre la ley IDEA de educación especial para poder abogar por tu hijo o hija.

  • Transition 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
    Presented by PSN's youth advocate, this webinar is geared towards both youth and parents, as the areas of transition and effective ways to prepare for life ahead will be covered.

  • From IFSP to IEP 2:00 PM-3:00 PM
    In this webinar, we will cover the transition process from an individualized family support plan (IFSP) to an individual educational plans (IEP) as our young children enter into the public school system.

  • Tips for Acquiring Competitive Employment 3:00 PM-4:00 PM
    In this workshop, designed for youth, we will cover important tips to acquire competitive employment in today's market.

  • Understanding the Evaluation Process in Special Education 6:00 PM-7:00 PM
    You have noticed your child is not keeping up with the rest of the class and you suspect your child may have a learning disability. If you feel your child's needs are not being met in the general education setting, he or she may be eligible to receive special education services. In this presentation, you will learn about the evaluation process in special education. Questions like, "when can I ask for an evaluation," "what is the process," "what are my child's rights" and more will be answered. Join us and learn all you need to know about getting the evaluation process started for your child.

Participants may receive one (1) hour of continuing education credit for each session. Afterward, report your hours quickly and easily using our eForm.
