The Mental Health of Our Children: What Everyone Should Know

The Florida Department of Children and Families Substance Abuse and Mental Health Program (SAMH) and the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association are hosting an online training of interest to volunteer guardians ad litem.

Join them on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for The Mental Health of Our Children: What Everyone Should Know.

The webinar will be presented by Charlie Biss, MSW, Children's Mental Health Director with the Vermont Department of Mental Health, who will provide an overview of the history of child mental health in the United States and the evolution from institutional care to community based care.

Information will be provided about the common mental health disorders in children and the implications for treatment, giving special attention to the role of trauma in the lives of children and how trauma informed care can significantly improve the likelihood of positive outcomes.

Participants may receive two (2) hours of continuing education credit. Remember, you can report your hours online quickly and easily.
