Leon County Schools and the Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program are hosting a continuing education event of interest to volunteer guardians ad litem who are not educational surrogates.

Join us on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM or Monday, December 2, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for Educational Surrogate Training.

Educational surrogates act as advocates for a child who requires exceptional student education (ESE) services. Responsibilities include making informed decisions about the child's educational needs, attending meetings and monitoring the child's progress.

Successful completion of the training and certification as an educational surrogate will qualify guardians ad litem to provide additional advocacy to children receiving ESE services and who have individualized education programs (IEP) at school.

Both lunch and learn sessions will be conducted by volunteer guardian ad litem Jan Watford and Chris Heron, ESE Parent Liaison with Leon County Schools Surrogate Parent Program.

Participants may receive one (1) hour of continuing education credit. Remember, you can report your hours online quickly and easily.

The training is free. You can download the event flyer and register with the event contact below.

We hope to see you there!
