Psychotropic Medication and Our Foster Children and Youth

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

The Second Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is hosting a continuing education training of interest to volunteer guardians ad litem and staff.

Join us on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at our offices on Thomasville Road for Psychotropic Medication and Our Foster Children and Youth.

Offering an in-depth discussion on psychotropic medication and foster children, this course will

  • identify advocacy strategies by demonstrating an understanding of the effects, both positively and negatively, that psychotropic medications can have on our foster youth;

  • share an example of how the protective laws, rule and regulations in place will assist with making recommendations to the court with regard to any medication issues;

  • discuss how our older youth have an important role in their medication protocol and should be included in reaching the best options for them; and

  • explain the options for older youth as they age out of foster care for their continued medication needs.

The training will be presented by Lorraine Donovan-Lepanto, Supervising Child's Best Interest Attorney with our program.

Participants may receive two (2) hours of continuing education credit. Afterward, report your hours quickly and easily using our eForm.

The training is free. You can download the print flyer and register with the event contact below.
